Abad also means "worshipper." When persons shift focus from simple labor to worship while working, their product/service becomes more excellent and they improve their attitude while working. Work becomes less of a chore and more purposeful.  Most importantly, they experience the joy of God's pleasure because of the &lt;em&gt;heart of worship&lt;/em&gt;.  This essence of abad is: &lt;strong&gt;work is worship.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;It is time for believers in the marketplace to transition to &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;abad&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;.  On Tuesdays at 5:30am, we will experience how. During this time, we will practice worship by praying through worship texts in the Bible. We will then move into a time of planning.       <title>Fewer Decisions</title>

      <description>&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Decisions.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;One key thing which distinguishes top leaders is the kind of decisions they have to make. A leader's decisions not only impact the organization's bottom line, they also impact the quality of life and performance of their people. Vision, strategy, structure, and resource allocation are the critical areas where leadership decisions need to be made. Management and staff can be empowered to make all other decisions, with circumstantial exceptions.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;If you, leader, are investing much time in making many decisions at an operational level, two words for you: &lt;strong&gt;Stop it&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;I am not sure history has proven a more effective leader than Moses. (Jesus, of course, being the exception.) Here is a guy who moved an entire nation from one country into a foriegn land, through a wilderness, with limited resources, seditious co-leaders, complaining people, and stronger armies. And while Moses did not get to experience the "promised land", he had a protege' who successfully continued in and completed his vision. Moses was a leader.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;But, Moses came to a place where he was making too many decisions. Like any organization or group, as the nation of Israel grew and began to mature, more decisions had to be made. But, this overwhelmed Moses. So, in steps Jethro, his father-in-law, giving him sound advice: STOP.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;Jethro, in Exodus 18 (NLT), says:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;Moses gave heed to this sound advice, decisions were push down to lower levels, people got their problems addressed, and Moses was able to focus on his core competencies of prayer, leadership, and instruction. He made fewer decisions and empowered new leaders.       <description>&lt;p style="font-size: 130%;"&gt;Years ago at a great celebration for Tom Skinner, hosted by his beloved wife Barbara, Tony Evans preached a great message and sounded a whole lot like Tom. I picked up Dr. Evans from his hotel and we rode along, not saying much. (Just because we preach does not mean we always have a lot to say.) I said to myself let me maximize this moment&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 130%;"&gt;At the time, I had been pastoring for about two years. So, here is the great Tony Evans, and I can pick his brain. I asked: "Dr. Evans, what are three things that I need to focus on as a pastor?" Expecting pearls of wisdom and rivers of revelation, I was dumbfounded and, frankly, disappointed at his answer. He did not give me three points and a poem. He did not speak with the veracity and audacity of one of his sermons. God celebrated His work. Like Almighty God, godly leaders acknowledge and celebrate interim victories/successes. The desired outcome is the focus, but the design and process require ongoing affirmation and celebration.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 130%;"&gt;Tell yourself and others “good job” at key milestones.       <title>Crisis in Perspective</title>

      <description>&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;“I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times.” - Psalm 77:5&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;Asaph, the writer of Psalm 77,  reflected on Israel’s long history, recorded painstakingly in the books of the 21 Old Testament. He must have remembered the times that God miraculously came through for His people, as well as the times Israel failed to obey and suffered terrible consequences. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;Years ago when I got an offer for a big contract, it was easy to see my situation at the time and think about the needs that the promised money could immediately meet. However, the Holy Spirit prompted me to not take the contract.  He helped me consider God’s long track record of providing for me. I thought about a time when a different friend had offered me a similar deal which I had taken against my better judgment. It had seemed almost irresistible at the time. Yet as soon as the work began, I sensed I had made a serious mistake. The hours ended up being much longer than originally forecast and before I knew it, the job had taken over my life. To make matters worse, the money was not materializing as promised. By the time my contract ended, I was exhausted, financially strained, and thankful to escape with my no taint on my reputation. I knew this was a lesson I did not want to learn twice. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 28px;"&gt;Considering God’s past faithfulness can also give us perspective on our current situation. I remember a time when God had told me to clear out a mutual fund I owned and give it all away. I obeyed, not sure what would happen, and then found myself with more money than I knew what to do with. I knew God could provide for me any way He wanted.       <title>The Right Question</title>

      <description>&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;"Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;- Joshua 5:13&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Joshua's question reveals his vision: HIS FIGHT. He is new to leading a nation. He was well aware of the fighting capacity of the nations inhabiting his promised land. Joshua also knew that his nation did not have experiences in battle. So when the Angel appears to him, naturally Joshua may have thought, "he must be here to help us fight &lt;em&gt;our battle&lt;/em&gt;, right?" But, "Nay", the Angel said. "You are locked in on the wrong thing right now Joshua. I am not come to fight for you. I am come with my own agenda". His question, "do you fight for us or them?", like all questions:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;estabishes an agenda, &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;frames a reality, and &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;reveals &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;his &lt;/em&gt;vision. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But &lt;em&gt;God's&lt;/em&gt; vision was different.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Leadership is influencing people to enjoy carrying out &lt;em&gt;your&lt;/em&gt; vision. &lt;strong&gt; Godly&lt;/strong&gt; leadership is influencing people to enjoy carrying out &lt;em&gt;God's&lt;/em&gt; vision. The best godly leadership is when your vision and God's vision are the same.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The challenge with vision is that it is easily "overcome by events." What is clear during times of great joy and achievement becomes cloudy during crises, if the leader shifts focus. In the case of godly leaders, they may lose sight of God's vision, replace it with their own, and not be aware of the shift. Then, they start asking the wrong questions. Tell me the questions leaders are asking and I will tell you their &lt;em&gt;real &lt;/em&gt;vision.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The great question godly leaders ask is what Joshua came to in Joshua 5:14, &lt;strong&gt;"What saith my lord unto his servant?"&lt;/strong&gt; This question enables the leader to get God's vision and, thus, move people in the right direction.       <title>Strike The Rock</title>

      <description>&lt;p style="text-align: center; font-size: 130%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;“Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink."&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;- Exodus 17:5 (NIV)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 160%;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Is your business or organization facing uncommon problems right now? &lt;/strong&gt;Perhaps you need uncommon solutions.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 160%;"&gt;Leaders and organizations may find themselves in situations that threaten their organizations without answers to their crises. Often in such circumstances leaders tend to look at what has worked before or at what other organizations are doing. Pressed by the opinions of people - who will naturally blame their leaders for any problems - and the tyranny of finding a solution now, the leader attempts common solutions which can lead to further challenges. Like a person on a treadmill, they speed up and use more energy, but stay in the same position.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 160%;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;What if the leader paused and prayed for an inspired idea?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Moses sets a good example. The liberated Israelites were thirsty and complaining. The wilderness was dry and uncomfortable. They were out of one extreme situation and getting ready to go in another. They blamed Moses for their problems and he did not have an answer. Moses, managing the opinions of the people and the real need for water, asked God about it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 160%;"&gt;God’s response was not common: "Moses, strike the rock." Striking a rock to solve a drought certainly is not a common solution. But it worked.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-size: 160%;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Challenging times require uncommon solutions.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dr. George Washington Carver wanted the children of ex-slaves to expand their work from beyond the exhausting toil of cotton farming. He wanted them to advance towards more crops such as soybeans and peanuts, thus increasing their capacity and self-sufficiency.
